QUICK BRIEF

The V12 Roadster turns the Lamborghini Diablo into a 19-car, open-top restomod focused less on digital spectacle than on mechanical connection.

Eccentrica has revealed the V12 Roadster, an open-top restomod based on the Lamborghini Diablo. Its central appeal is not simply a higher-output engine or a more exotic body: it is the decision to retain a 6-speed gated manual behind a naturally aspirated V12.

The company says it comprehensively redesigned an early Diablo and developed more than 3,500 bespoke parts for the project. Reported hardware includes a revised 5.7-liter V12 rated at 550 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque, a new steel-and-carbon-fiber body, wider tracks, carbon-fiber structural reinforcement, semi-active dampers, hydraulic power steering, and modern brakes. Eccentrica also cites a 208-mph top speed.

Those figures are substantial, but they are not the point. Modern supercars can eclipse them with ease through turbocharging, electrification, and rapid-shifting dual-clutch gearboxes. The Roadster instead makes a stronger case for the things those cars often leave behind: the sound of a large V12, the physical movement of a gated shifter, and steering intended to preserve mechanical feedback.

That is a particularly fitting direction for a Diablo-based project. The Diablo’s character was never defined by effortless usability. Its appeal came from excess, theater, and the sense that the driver was operating a demanding machine. Removing the roof should make the engine’s presence even more immediate, while the updated chassis and braking components aim to make that old-school drama more usable.

Specifications and the 19-car production plan are based on the manufacturer’s announcement; final pricing, production timing, and the real driving experience remain unconfirmed. Eccentrica will build each example to customer specification, with no price disclosed.

For buyers, this is not the restomod to choose for the biggest performance number. It is for those who believe a V12 supercar is most valuable when the driver still has to work the manual gearbox and feel the car answer back.

CARIARY’S TAKE

Eccentrica’s V12 Roadster has real promise because its manual V12 experience, not outright numbers, can authentically revive the Diablo’s analog character.
