Core summary

The Grecale name spans earlier four-cylinder mild hybrids, V6 derivatives and the electric Folgore. New US V6 specifications must not be assigned retrospectively to an older GT.

The first-generation Grecale is a five-seat SUV introduced in 2022. Its range has changed enough that a single engine description is misleading. This page distinguishes the original GT and Modena mild hybrids, the V6 Trofeo, the electric Folgore and the newer 2027 US V6 range.

Cariary's advice is to establish model year and engine before comparing prices. A used GT and a new V6 can share the Grecale badge while representing materially different powertrains. Photographs are labelled accordingly rather than presented as evidence of a newer specification.

02 · History & generations

History & generations

At the 2022 global launch, GT and Modena used four-cylinder mild-hybrid powertrains, while Trofeo used a V6. The launch figures were expressed in metric horsepower: 300 CV, 330 CV and 530 CV respectively. Those numbers must not be relabelled as identical US horsepower ratings.

The later US model table introduces a new V6 entry point. This is a model-range development, not proof that every Grecale built since 2022 had six cylinders.

The gallery includes a silver 2022 GT, a blue 2023 Trofeo viewed from the rear and a separate black GT. These illustrate the earlier first-generation exterior. None is labelled as a 2027 V6 or a Folgore.

Use the views to assess proportions and access, not to infer engine output. When shopping, confirm the actual derivative through vehicle records. Exterior styling, wheels and accessories can be changed and are not a reliable replacement for specification documents.

04 · Engine & drivetrain

Engine & drivetrain

The cited 2027 US comparison table lists the new Grecale V6 and Modena V6 at 385 hp, Trofeo at 523 hp and the separate electric Folgore at 542 hp. These are US table figures, distinct from metric values on other regional pages.

The petrol range and Folgore also require different ownership planning. A mild hybrid still relies on petrol; it is not a plug-in EV. The Folgore should not inherit the V6's transmission or servicing description.

05 · Trim differences

Trim differences

Do not treat Modena as one unchanging engine specification across all years. The earlier Modena mild hybrid and the newer US Modena V6 require separate comparisons. Ask the seller for the full model designation and market documentation.

The US trim page distinguishes the newer V6's steel-spring arrangement from Trofeo's standard air suspension and performance-oriented equipment. Inspect options and regional availability rather than assuming every Grecale has the same chassis hardware.

06 · Interior & seating

Interior & seating

The newer US trim presentation describes a revised control environment with metal PRND switches and an octagonal clock. This should not be promised to a buyer of an earlier GT simply because the current website shows it.

Test the actual vehicle's climate controls, navigation and phone connection. Bring rear passengers or child seats to assess usable space. This gallery has no verified cabin photograph, so it makes no visual claim about a specific interior update or optional finish.

07 · Efficiency & range

Efficiency & range

Begin with the energy source. An earlier mild-hybrid Grecale needs a petrol-cost assessment, while Folgore needs charging access, route planning and the appropriate electric range rating. Combining those figures into one Grecale efficiency number would be unhelpful.

For a petrol example, check the local consumption label for its year and engine. For an EV, confirm the charging specification and battery documentation separately. Do not use a current range-wide marketing page as a substitute for an individual vehicle's details.

08 · Safety & equipment

Safety & equipment

Demonstrate driver-assistance, parking and warning functions on the chosen car. Equipment may vary with market, year and options, and assistance technology does not remove the need for normal driver supervision.

Before buying used, obtain service and campaign records and inspect tyres, brakes, suspension and electronics. A nearby workshop's ability to support the exact powertrain is a practical consideration, particularly if the car will be the household's only vehicle.

09 · Strengths

Strengths

The Grecale offers a recognisable Italian alternative in a segment with many familiar German choices. Its range allows different priorities, from earlier mild-hybrid examples to V6 performance and a distinct electric version.

That breadth is useful when considered accurately. Someone interested in the design need not automatically select Trofeo, while a buyer intentionally seeking the V6 should verify the year rather than excluding all non-Trofeo listings by assumption.

Cariary perspective
Buy the exact Grecale, not the generic name: engine, model year, suspension and local service access change the ownership proposition. The gallery deliberately identifies earlier GT and Trofeo examples.
10 · Considerations

Considerations

The changing range makes generic reviews unusually easy to misapply. A comment about an original GT's drivetrain does not establish how the new US V6 behaves, and an electric Folgore assessment cannot explain petrol running costs.

Compare warranty coverage, service access and exact equipment along with price. Request clear photographs of the actual cabin and written specification details. A dealer's stock image can show a different year even when the advertised model name is correct.

11 · Recommended use

Recommended use

The Grecale suits a buyer attracted to its design who is willing to investigate the individual specification and local support. For a used purchase, a documented maintenance history should outweigh a tempting trim badge without records.

For a new purchase, compare the locally offered V6 or hybrid version against alternatives on familiar roads. A Folgore belongs on that shortlist only after establishing a workable charging routine.

12 · Rivals & related

Rivals & related

The Porsche Macan and BMW X3 are useful size-and-role comparisons, but select the right generation and powertrain for each. An electric Macan belongs in a different energy comparison from an older petrol GT.

The Alfa Romeo Stelvio may interest buyers prioritising Italian design and petrol driving, where available. Assess rear space, service access and fitted equipment directly instead of assuming that a shared national identity implies the same ownership experience.

13 · FAQ

FAQ

Is every Grecale a V6? No. Earlier GT and Modena examples use four-cylinder mild-hybrid systems, and Folgore is electric.

Are these photos of the new 2027 US V6? No. They are individually identified earlier GT and Trofeo examples.

Does mild hybrid mean plug-in? No. Do not plan external charging for the earlier mild-hybrid versions.

Why do power figures vary online? Model year, derivative, market and horsepower units all matter.

What makes the Maserati Grecale different?

Manufacturer references identify the dated specifications used here. Cariary buying assessments are editorial analysis, not a claimed first-hand road test or a diagnosis of an individual vehicle. Photographs carry individual source and licence credits. Confirm the exact build, market and equipment before purchase; photographs of another trim do not establish your car’s specification.
