ABOUT THE ACURA MDX

Acura MDX at a glance

The Acura MDX is a three-row midsize luxury SUV that balances family usability with a more driver-focused character than many vehicles of similar size. Standard models use a 290-hp 3.5-liter V6, while the Type S adds a 355-hp turbocharged V6, air suspension and stronger brakes. Acura’s available Super Handling All-Wheel Drive improves poor-weather traction and gives the MDX a more neutral feel in corners. The cabin offers flexible seating and a useful second row with a removable center section, although the third row is best suited to children or shorter trips. The naturally aspirated V6 is smooth and adequate for most owners; the Type S brings meaningful performance but also a substantial price and efficiency penalty. Controls and infotainment take time to learn, yet build quality and standard safety equipment are strong. For buyers who need three rows without giving up steering response and road manners, the MDX remains a compelling middle ground between mainstream family SUVs and more expensive European alternatives.
