2 TRIMSABOUT THE BMW M8
The BMW M8 Competition takes the 8 Series idea to its most extreme factory form. Its 617-hp twin-turbocharged V8, eight-speed automatic, and M xDrive system give the large grand tourer acceleration that belongs in supercar conversations, even though it still carries luxury seats, modern technology, and real long-distance ability. Cariary’s question is not whether it is fast enough. It is whether this much performance improves the 8 Series mission. For some buyers, the answer is yes: the Competition turns a beautiful luxury coupe into a serious all-weather weapon. Others may find the standard M8 or six-cylinder 840i more coherent and comfortable. Coupe, Convertible, and Gran Coupe body styles also create very different ownership experiences. The M8 Competition makes the most sense for someone who wants one car to feel expensive, dramatic, and almost absurdly capable, while accepting weight, complexity, and significant running costs.
