ABOUT THE BMW X1

BMW X1 at a glance

The F48 BMW X1 20i is the version that gives BMW’s compact SUV enough power to feel comfortable outside the city without turning it into a performance model. Its 192-hp turbocharged gasoline engine offers a clearer advantage over the entry 18i when the car is carrying passengers, joining fast traffic, or climbing at highway speed. The X1’s front-wheel-drive-based architecture creates more cabin space than older small BMWs, and xDrive is available in selected configurations. Cariary sees the 20i as the sensible engine choice for buyers who want the X1’s practicality but still expect a premium car to feel effortless. It will not deliver the balance of a 3 Series, because that is not what this platform was designed to do. This profile refers to the 2015–2022 F48 generation; the later U11 X1 is larger and uses updated powertrains, so generation-specific pricing and specifications must be compared separately.
