BMW X2 at a glance
The original BMW X2 18i is the style-led alternative to the F48 X1. Built on the same front-wheel-drive-based architecture, the F39 X2 trades some roof height and cargo friendliness for a lower stance and a more distinctive shape. Its 140-hp entry gasoline engine is intended for urban use and controlled running costs rather than enthusiastic performance. Cariary’s view is that the 18i exposes the central X2 question clearly: if design is the priority, the reduced practicality may be worth it; if space and visibility matter more, the related X1 is the smarter purchase. The X2 still offers easier access than a conventional coupe, but it should not be mistaken for a small sports car simply because of its roofline. This profile covers the 2018–2023 F39 generation. The radically different U10 X2 introduced later is larger, more angular, and mechanically updated.
