The BMW X5 xDrive40i is the core petrol version of the G05-generation X5 and, for many buyers, the point where the range makes the most sense. Its turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six is smooth, responsive and strong enough to move this large SUV without making it feel strained. Output varies by model year and market—earlier versions were commonly rated around 340 hp, while updated models gained a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and more power—but the character remains consistent.
