ABOUT THE BMW X7

BMW X7 at a glance

The BMW X7 xDrive40i is the entry point to BMW’s largest luxury SUV, but it does not feel like an entry-level powertrain. Its turbocharged inline-six works with an eight-speed automatic and xDrive all-wheel drive, delivering smooth acceleration that suits the X7’s quiet, long-distance character. Earlier G07 examples were commonly rated around 340 hp, while the facelift introduced mild-hybrid assistance and a higher output. Three-row seating, available second-row captain’s chairs and a genuinely upscale cabin make it a practical flagship rather than simply an oversized X5. Cariary considers the 40i the version most private buyers should examine first: the V8 models add speed and drama, but the six-cylinder car already provides the refinement this vehicle needs. The bigger buying decisions are often seating layout, wheel size and options, because they have a direct effect on comfort, usability and price.
