The seventh-generation Ford Mustang keeps the familiar front-engine, rear-wheel-drive formula while offering distinctly different powertrains. EcoBoost models use a 315-hp turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder with a ten-speed automatic. The Mustang GT moves to a 5.0-liter V8 rated at 480 hp, or 486 hp with the active exhaust, while the track-focused Dark Horse raises output to 500 hp. V8 models retain an available six-speed manual transmission.
