1 TRIMABOUT THE LOTUS ELETRE
The Lotus Eletre is a radical expansion of the brand’s identity: a large, four-door electric SUV built around dual-motor all-wheel drive, an 800-volt electrical architecture and active chassis technology. In its most powerful form it produces 905 hp and can reach 62 mph in roughly three seconds, figures that would have belonged to an exotic car only a few years ago. Air suspension, rear-wheel steering and active aerodynamic elements are intended to preserve driver involvement despite the Eletre’s size and battery mass. The cabin is equally different from traditional Lotus thinking, emphasizing digital displays, high-end materials and long-distance comfort. Cariary does not view the Eletre as a replacement for an Elise or Emira; it is a new kind of Lotus aimed at buyers who need space but still want dramatic design and performance. Its price and limited U.S. footprint make it a specialist choice, yet the engineering ambition is impossible to ignore.
