The W206 Mercedes-AMG C 43 takes a very different route from earlier six-cylinder versions. Its handcrafted 2.0-liter four-cylinder uses an electrically assisted turbocharger to produce 416 hp, sent through a nine-speed MCT transmission and rear-biased AMG all-wheel drive. The result is objectively quick, with a claimed 4.3-second 0–60 mph time, and the compact C-Class body remains practical enough for daily use. The trade-off is emotional: buyers expecting the richer sound and character of an older AMG engine may need time to adjust. As a modern performance sedan, however, the C 43 is technically sophisticated, fast and usable in all seasons.
