1 TRIMABOUT THE MERCEDES-AMG C43
The facelifted W205 Mercedes-AMG C 43 4MATIC sits between the regular C-Class and the V8-powered C 63. Its 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 was rated at roughly 390 hp in later global-market versions, paired with a nine-speed automatic and all-wheel drive. The result is strong real-world acceleration and dependable all-weather traction without the rear-drive drama or running costs of a C 63. Cariary thinks the C 43 works best when viewed as a rapid luxury sedan rather than a smaller substitute for the full AMG. It is easier to use every day, quieter when required and still quick enough for almost any public road. Buyers should distinguish this W205 V6 model from the newer W206 C 43, which uses a very different electrified four-cylinder powertrain. The shared badge hides two cars with noticeably different character.
