1 TRIMABOUT THE MERCEDES-AMG E53 CABRIOLET
The Mercedes-AMG E 53 4MATIC+ Cabriolet combines open-top touring with the smooth character of AMG’s electrified 3.0-liter inline-six. In A238 form, the engine produces about 435 hp in common global specifications, supported briefly by a 48-volt starter-generator and paired with a nine-speed transmission and variable all-wheel drive. It is not as raw or dramatic as a V8 AMG, but that restraint suits the car. Cariary sees the E 53 Cabriolet as a fast grand tourer first: four usable seats, a refined cabin and enough performance for effortless long-distance driving. The fabric roof and added structure increase weight, so this is not the sharpest E-Class derivative. Buyers should instead focus on roof condition, air-suspension operation, option content and service history. For someone who wants speed without sacrificing comfort, the E 53’s balanced personality is its strongest argument.
