1 TRIMABOUT THE MERCEDES-AMG E63
The W213 Mercedes-AMG E 63 S is one of the defining modern super sedans. Its hand-built 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 produces around 612 PS, or 603 hp in U.S. specification, and sends power through a nine-speed transmission and fully variable 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive. That system gives the car enormous traction while preserving a rear-driven character—and even includes a drift-oriented mode in the S version. Cariary sees the E 63 as remarkable because it can behave like a quiet executive car, carry a family and then deliver performance that once belonged to supercars. The compromise is cost: tires, brakes, fuel and maintenance all reflect the output. Buyers should confirm whether a car is the standard or S model, inspect modification history and prioritize documented servicing. The newer electrified performance era may be faster on paper, but the W213’s V8 identity remains difficult to replace.
