1 TRIMABOUT THE MERCEDES-AMG GLS63
The Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4MATIC+ is the performance flagship of Mercedes’ largest three-row SUV family. Its hand-built 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 produces around 612 PS, or 603 hp in U.S. specification, supported by a 48-volt system and paired with a nine-speed transmission and variable all-wheel drive. Despite its size, the GLS 63 accelerates with remarkable urgency. Cariary thinks its real identity is not a sports car in SUV form, but a high-speed luxury transport that refuses to give up the third row. It offers space, prestige and effortless overtaking power, though large wheels and AMG tuning can make it less serene than a regular GLS. Buyers should be realistic about parking dimensions, tire and brake costs, and fuel use. If maximum comfort is the priority, a non-AMG GLS may be wiser; if one vehicle must combine seven-seat utility with V8 theatre, the 63 is unusually complete.
