The Mercedes-AMG S 63 4MATIC+ Cabriolet is the V8 performance version of the A217 S-Class Cabriolet. Its hand-built 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine produces about 603 hp in U.S. specification, delivering effortless speed through a nine-speed transmission and all-wheel drive. Yet this car is not primarily about lap times. With four seats, an insulated fabric roof and an exceptionally luxurious cabin, it is designed to cover distance quickly while keeping the open-air experience civilized. Cariary sees the S 63 Cabriolet as the more dynamic and usable counterpart to the rarer V12 S 65 Cabriolet. The S 65 offers greater ceremony; the S 63 feels lighter and more responsive. Buyers should test every roof function, inspect water sealing, verify suspension operation and demand complete maintenance records. Its purchase price may fall with age, but the complexity and running costs remain those of a flagship AMG.
