1 TRIMABOUT THE MERCEDES-AMG S65 CABRIOLET
The Mercedes-AMG S 65 Cabriolet is one of the most extravagant open-top cars of the modern Mercedes era. Based on the A217 S-Class Cabriolet, it pairs a hand-built 6.0-liter twin-turbocharged V12 with rear-wheel drive, producing 621 hp in U.S. specification. The numbers are enormous, but this car was never designed as a lightweight track machine. Its purpose is effortless speed, four-seat luxury and the rare experience of a V12 with the roof folded away. Cariary sees the S 65 Cabriolet as a statement about excess at a time when downsizing had already become normal. The S 63 is lighter, less complicated and often the sharper driver’s car; the S 65 answers a different question. Buyers are paying for smooth torque, rarity and occasion, while accepting very high maintenance costs and the importance of a complete specialist service history.
