1 TRIMABOUT THE MERCEDES-AMG SL63
The R232 Mercedes-AMG SL 63 4MATIC+ reinterprets the SL as an AMG-developed performance roadster with a 2+2 seating layout and a fabric roof. Its hand-built 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 produces about 577 hp in U.S. specification, paired with a nine-speed transmission and variable all-wheel drive. The result is far more aggressive than the comfort-first SL generations many buyers remember. Cariary sees the SL 63 as a grand tourer with genuine sports-car intent: it can cruise with refinement, but its power delivery, chassis technology and wide stance make the performance central to the experience. The tiny rear seats offer limited practical value, and the car’s complexity means options and warranty coverage matter. Buyers should also distinguish this conventional V8 version from later electrified SL variants. For those who value roof-down V8 theatre without moving to a two-seat exotic, the SL 63 occupies a rare position.
