2 TRIMSABOUT THE MITSUBISHI OUTLANDER SPORT
The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is the smallest and oldest-feeling member of Mitsubishi’s U.S. crossover lineup, but its simplicity is also part of the case for it. Depending on trim, it uses a 148-hp 2.0-liter or 168-hp 2.4-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder with a continuously variable transmission and all-wheel drive. The cabin technology and refinement trail newer competitors, while rear-seat and cargo space are modest. In return, the Outlander Sport offers straightforward controls, compact dimensions, useful ground clearance and one of the stronger warranty packages in the class. It makes the most sense when pricing is competitive and the buyer values uncomplicated ownership over the newest interface design. Cariary would not call it the segment benchmark, but it can be a rational entry point into an all-wheel-drive crossover—especially for owners who want a manageable footprint and do not need turbocharged performance or elaborate cabin electronics.
